Richard 3. The Man
Part of York International Shakespeare Festival
Richard 3. The Man is a journey inspired by William Shakespeare’s most captivating character, Richard III.
Through a practice-based research method, the performance tries to delve into his psyche and explore the complexity of the character constructed by Shakespeare, in order to later correlate the results with the historical truth about Richard III and identify the moral dilemmas that arose from this process.
Through a series of monologues, soliloquies, and interactive scenes, Richard III will showcase his chameleon-like personality, inviting the audience to witness the mechanisms through which he manages to manipulate those around him, indifferent to the consequences of his actions, in order to achieve his goal.
