Acting Workshop
Acting Workshops
Come for your weekly acting practise; a gymnasium for the actor.
Like all skills, regular practise keeps you progressing, confident, excited and engaged.
Here we will look at the core skills of professional acting, used by all actors, and begin to unpack what these approaches do, and why they help. You will experience using them, apply them to a scene, and combine them together to bring a scene to life.
There will be redirection, discussion and exploration; acting each week with a scene partner, you will work on the same scene to develop it and hone your skills.
For those: interested in learning, who act for the love of it, are curious to take it further, who are starting their career; open to all.
Sessions:
Mondays: 19th May; 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th June (no session on 26th May - Spring Bank Holiday) 19:15 - 21:45 (2.5h)
£20 per session; All 6 sessions for £110
You can sign up to any number, they are each distinct and work as stand alone sessions. If you are signed up to more that one, we can carry your work forward to the next, and build on what you have already discovered; there is also opportunity to work on the scene between sessions.
You will be emailed the script for the scene we will be working on before the start of your session. If you are thinking of signing up but plan to buy a ticket nearer the time, please get in touch to receive the scene also. This will give you time to become familiar with the text.
Praise for Practise Acting Workshops:
“Jacob quickly established the experience level of each of the participants (which was varied), and made all the activities and learning points accessible and easy to understand, whilst also stretching us. It was fun to work with different scene partners, trying things out, and being able to discuss ideas. Thank you!”
“Amazing, Jacob was such a knowledgeable and enthusiastic facilitator. These sessions really allow for the actors' individuality to shine. We learnt so much helpful theory when it came to script interpretation and had a chance to practice that theory at every moment, feeling challenged and enlightened!”
“Jacob created a supportive, creative environment in which to learn, test out new skills and play. The actor tools he shared felt really ingrained in my creative practise at the end of the 4 weeks and I’ll definitely be using them going forwards.”
